Face masks are a great way to maintain and boost your skincare routine at home. I personally use one weekly and recommend the same to you. I’m not a big DIY skincare person but due to so many questions about what I think of DIY masks I decided to give one a try. I have to say, just as I am so particular about the ingredients in the food I eat, it also made perfect sense I”d want to know exactly what’s in my skincare. I won’t be abandoning my pre-made masks but after loving the below recipe I am definitely inspired to make more masks at home.
Below is the easy breezy recipe for the homemade Organic Avocado Honey Probiotic face mask in the video:
What you’ll need:
1/2 Organic Avocado
2 Teaspoons Organic Raw Manuka Honey
Organic Plain Greek Yogurt
Mix 1/2 avocado with 3oz. greek yogurt (or 1 full 6oz. container & share with a friend!) + 2 teaspoon organic raw manuka honey.
Apply the mixture to cleansed skin for 10-15 minutes. Gently remove with tepid water and pat skin dry. Since this mask is exfoliating, skip serums or moisturizers with exfoliating ingredients (retinol, AHA’s, BHA’s) after masking and simply apply a hydrating moisturizer or SPF if it’s daytime.
The yogurt naturally contains lactic acid to gently exfoliate. Of all the AHA’S (alpha hydroxy acids) lactic acid tends to be the most gentle with the additional benefits of hydrating and brightening. Yogurt also provides probiotics which studies are starting to show they can boost skin health. Manuka Honey will add hydrating, enzyme and antibacterial properties.
p.s. If its summertime try adding the avocado refrigerated- the combo of applying cold yogurt and avocado feel cooling and calming on the skin.
Cheers to healthy skin!
